From leaving school and settling in England I completed 4 years at Oldham Athletic FC where my career was ended due to injury. I decided to enter the Financial Services industry and have been an adviser for c20 years having experience within the Home Service Industry with Pearl Assurance where I met Phil, I then decided to take a break from Financial Services for 6 years before rejoining the industry in 2010 where we set up Merlyn Wealth Management. In my spare time I enjoy the odd game of golf and riding our horses.
I started my career in financial services 40 years ago with the home service company Pearl Assurance as an agent in the Whitworth area, I moved to Skipton Financial Services where I worked for 10 years as an IFA in various branches of Skipton Building Society in the Yorkshire area.
In 2006 I set up my own business via St James’s Place Wealth Management and after 10 years I sold the business and semi-retired in April 2016.
I helped set up Merlyn Wealth Management Ltd in 2010 with Brian where I now work as Co Director with Brian and my son Sam who is an adviser within the business.
I spend my spare time watching Burnley Football club where I’ve been a season ticket holder for over 20 years, walking Molly the family dog and playing Golf badly.
Having left sixth from in 2015, I started a position coaching young children sport in primary schools. Two years later, I decided I wanted a career change and joined the business working under Phil paraplanning and completing general admin work. In 2020 I completed my exams and achieved a diploma in financial advice and have since built my own bank of clients. I live in Read with my fiancée and in my spare time, I play golf at Wilpshire Golf Club and football for my local team almost on a weekly basis.
I am Gary Brocklehurst, a Financial Adviser of 30 years experience both in the investment and pensions markets. I had many years working as an IFA with Skipton financial Services for 17 years, prior to joining Merlyn Wealth Management just under six years ago. I haver been lucky enough to have been able to look after a lot of my clients throughout that period.
I have little to no spare time but when not working still enjoy a game of five a side, and running a successful open age football team, in the Stockport Sunday League top division.
I am Married to Carol, with Four Grown up children and two dogs and live in South Manchester in Stockport.
Following 12 years of working within primary school education, I decided a career change was in order and began working with Merlyn Wealth Management in October 2019 as part of the admin team. Since then, I have progressed on to paraplanning and most recently I became Merlyn’s office manager. I live in Bacup with my partner and our two children. During my spare time, I enjoy exploring the countryside whilst walking our family dog and spending time with my family and friends.
I am currently studying for my Law Degree at UCLan Preston, whilst working for Merlyn Wealth where I’m responsible for helping advisers produce annual review packs for clients to ensure a bespoke level of service. In addition, I help Nicola with the companies administration work. In my spare time I enjoy baking celebration cakes and socialising with friends.
At this stage, we work with you to identify your needs and objectives. We will consider what policies or plans you already have in place and will help you to identify ‘gaps’. For investment cases, including pensions, we will assess your investment personality - your attitude to investment risk, and capacity for loss. We will also explain the advice process and how we charge for advice. We often provide this stage at our own cost to determine whether or not we can assist you. The presentation and explanation of this document is always carried out at our own cost.
Next, we’ll start the process of creating your Personal Financial Plan based on your stated aims and ambitions. Your plan will cover specific timed events and your longer-term, well-defined strategy. Our advice and recommendation will be backed by the quality of the research we continually undertake on behalf of our clients - economic trends, world events, financial products and more.
We’ll present you with your Personal Financial Plan. We will clearly explain each recommendation. If you wish to proceed with all or some of our recommendations, you may be asked to sign an agreement or proposal forms. We will liaise with the providers we recommend to implement the advice upon which we have agreed. We can provide advice on all areas of financial planning; however, we find that our advice is most effective when we agree to prioritise your needs. It’s also easier to understand. We will confirm to you what your priorities are, both in our ‘Suitability Report’ and when you receive focused advice.
We believe it is incredibly important to review your financial planning needs on a regular basis. Few significant financial transactions can be considered successful without a degree of ongoing maintenance or attention. As your professional advisers, we strive to provide a proactive and useful ongoing relationship. For investment work (including pensions), we will offer you the opportunity to becomea client of Merlyn Wealth Management Ltd on an ongoing basis. We provide you with an ongoing service consisting of 4 pillars. We call this service Precision.
When we have agreed your priorities, we will organise the documentation needed to put your financial plan into action. We will liaise with the product providers involved in our recommendation to ensure your plan is structured in exactly the way we have agreed. You will receive policy documents or contract notes directly from the companies with whom you have invested.
